I’m Shoko, the founder of MOCHI MIND. I’ve been teaching Japanese for over 10 years, starting with adult learners at Florida State University and now focusing on home-educated children and passionate learners around the world.

As a native speaker and a mother of two bilingual children, I understand how to make Japanese feel approachable, joyful, and relevant whether you’re starting from scratch or already dreaming of visiting Japan. I work closely with families and individual learners to create lessons that are rooted in curiosity, culture, and connection.

MOCHI MIND was born from a belief that language learning should be gentle, motivating, and led by what lights you up – whether that’s Studio Ghibli, Pokémon, travel, or simply a deep love for Japanese culture. I’m here not just to teach, but to mentor and guide your journey with care.
